Space Pirate

Inspired greatly by the works of John Blanche as well as that of Julian Bayliss and Spiky Rat Pack.

  1. Wow, she/he is fantastic! Like Blanche and the guys at Spiky Rat Pack, you have really done a lot with a limited pallet of colors; the sparing use of red really accents the grim character of the model. The daemonette claws on the back are a stroke of genius; they really give the model a daemonic quality that really suits the Dark Eldar. Also, you have made wonderful use of the Dark Elf range. I have really come to appreciate how interchangeable the two ranges are, allowing some excellent conversion opportunities (I have a lot of a bunch of example on my own blog too, Between the Bolter and Me, such as a Duke Sliscus conversion: http://betweenthebolterandme.blogspot.com/2014/08/dark-eldar-duke-sliscus-conversion.html).

The pose is really striking too; it has an excellent sense of motion, as she leans forward with her Soul-trap contraption. Certainly the best looking Dark Eldar I have seen in months, keep up the great work!

    1. Eric, I checked out your blog and love what you have done combining the Dark Elf and Dark Eldar kits and I particularly like the Sliscus conversion (alas it seems he won't be around for much longer) and may have to steal your idea of combining the Shadow Warrior cloaks with Warrior kit. Since the new Dark Elf release, I have been further experimenting with the combination of the two kits and have just finished painting a model based off one of Witch Elves, which I hope to photograph and post over the next few days.

Cheers for the comment, it is nice to see someone else making cool Dark Eldar models.

  2. Fantastic looking model. You have done a wonderful job of taking components from all over the place and integrating them together perfectly. The face of the model really gives the model a strikingly alien and unnatural look, fitting for the Dark Eldar. The limited color palette also goes a long way in portraying grim realism.

Top notch work! I can't wait to see more of your conversions!

  5. Hi I hope you are well!
Just wanted to say how much your work has inspired me to make my own grim Dark Cabal of Dark Eldar loon's.
If at all possible could you say what part's you used on the Archon and on the leader of your Wyche's?
    :)
